WMSWCD's Commitment to Local Food
WMSWCD's strategic plan highlights a commitment to sustainable local food production and underscores the importance of this production to the quality of life, sustainability, and economy of the District. With this in mind,
WMSWCD is pleased to invite its constituents to the upcoming free "Edible Garden Resource Fair" hosted by Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc. on February 1st from 6:30 - 9 pm. You'll learn home gardening techniques ranging from improving soil health to garden installation. The event will provide helpful tips for beginning gardeners and skilled green thumbs to ensure a bountiful and healthy harvest.
WMSWCD will also present a free "Dirt Cheap Gardening" workshop on March 27th to educate residents on free and low cost gardening methods. The topics will range from garden creation including lawn to garden conversions, sheet mulching techniques, seed saving techniques, and edible plants that provide the most food for the lowest cost. Check the District web site calendar for garden education opportunities: www.wmswcd.org.
