WMSWCD Hires New Conservation Planner
We'd like to introduce you to Michael Ahr, our new Forest Conservationist!
Ahr previously worked as a Resource Technician with the Washington Department of Natural Resources in Olympia, Washington, where he assisted landowners in identifying and eradicating invasive species, surveying prairies to collect native plant seeds for sensitive butterflies, and surveying for an Oregon white oak release project. He also worked on natural area restoration projects and planned riparian restoration projects.
At WMSWCD, Ahr will continue his focus on forest resource management and riparian and wildlife habitat restoration. Ahr joins the District's Senior Conservationist Kammy Kern-Korot, Rural Conservationist Scott Gall and Urban Conservationist Mary Logalbo.
Ahr has his B.S. in Natural Resources and Wildlife Management from Ohio State University and his Masters of Science in Forest Resources, Natural Resources Education and Extension with a minor in Adult Education from Oregon State University. He has worked with the Polk Soil and Water Conservation District and the Tillamook State Forest in Oregon.
