Balch Creek - West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District | spacer

Balch Creek

Approximate length of streams: 5.5 miles.

Watershed Area: 1,387 acres

Drains into the Willamette River.  Much of the creek is contained in parkland. The lower section of the creek is piped underground beneath a major industrial area.

The Multnomah County Goal 5 Inventory, January 1994, includes "'Audubon House' tributary of Balch Creek (in sub-basin #5; 1993 BES report)", and "Balch Creek (Class I reach outside Portland; below confluence of Thompson and Cornell forks)" among the Protected Water Resource and Wetland Sites.  The Multnomah County Goal 5 Inventory, January 1994, includes among Significant Water Resource and Wetland Sites "Balch Creek Forks: Thompson, Cornell, and 'South Audubon' (outside Portland)".   The Multnomah County Goal 5 Inventory, January 1994, Potentially Significant Water Resource and Wetland Sites includes "Balch Creek watershed (except 1C or 3C desginated reaches & sections in Portland)".

Balch Creek was included in a 9 Stream Inventory completed in 1990.
